That's right. Goals. I f*&king hated doing goal setting at uni. Every semester it felt like there was another class where we were looking at the benefits of goal setting. Goal setting - blah, blah, blah.
Now that I'm older and wiser (did you get the sarcasm there???) I may finally be able to appreciate just how important goal setting can be. I've tried goal setting in the past, and to be honest it's not that I'm lazy, it's just that I conveniently forget that I set goals. So, my grand plan to overcome this is to write them all into the fabulous blog and hope to God that this helps me to remember. Maybe I should even paste them on my MySpace just to be safe...
Stephanie's goals for 2008: (and there are quite a few...)
1. To reduce my body fat down to it's previous level of 22% (prior to meeting Todd... Yes, I am more than ok with blaming him for my current condition. Poor Tood.) I will achieve this by increasing the amount of resistance training that I do each week to a minimum of 2 QUALITY sessions.
2. To reduce my weight back down to my previous level of 68kg (once again - Todd. Bastard.) This I will achieve by returning to my minimum of 5 sessions of cardio/week. Ideally these will be at least an hour long, but given the hours that I work (such long days...) 2 of these sessions can be half hour sessions if time is an issue. (See I've even learnt to compromise and rationalise!)
3. To save enough money for either a deposit on a house or a trip to Europe. Either is achievable, I just need to decide which one I want more. I will continue to put aside the same amount as I have been into my savings each pay and will do some extra work to achieve this faster.
4. I will teach Body Balance classes at Geneses Fitness Club. They've already asked me to shadow so that if they need fill-ins I can do it. As soon as I return to work I will recommence practicing for one hour each day (during work time of course) to ensure that my teachers skills are back up to scratch.
5. I will compete in the half-marathon in Melbourne in November (subject of course to the cardiologist clearing me for running... fingers crossed!).
6. Todd and I will finally go on a freaking holiday! In March preferably. Just a few days away to Melbourne and Sydney in the hope that this will convince him that he actually does like leaving the house. Savings on track, flights part paid for, now just to sort out accomodation.
7. I will start working towards being accepted into a phd program. Apparently this means I will need to get a journal article published. Scary, but very achievable.
8. I will use that bloody journalism degree for something (preferably publishing articles and not as toilet paper...). I will contact several magazines, including Women's Health and Weight Watchers magazine, about publishing health and fitness articles. I will have an article published in a magazine (or ezine) by the end of the year.
Hmmm... That's about all I can think of right now. I think it's a good start though. There are plenty of goals there and all of them seem achievable to me which I'm really happy with. The most important one to me I think is to get my weight down to 68kg so that I can feel confident in my industry again. 68kg sounds heavy but the last time I weighed that much I was a size 10-12, different bodies and all that... This is my year. This year I am going to achieve everything that is on my list.
You just wait and see!
