Good News or Bad???

Out for a run this morning and the first thing I notice when I get down my driveway is that my neighbours yard (two doors down) is suspiciously clean. All the rubbish, toys, dirty nappies, old newspapers and of course my close grip seated row bar have all disappeared from the front yard. My first thought was 'inspection time!'. But on closer observation I couldn't help but notice that the broken windows are all bordered up, the pile of junk has been removed from the yard and the driveway is empty of the drug paraphernalia they usually store there.

The Housing Commission has evicted them!!! The house was absolutely trashed so I have no idea if it was because they didn't maintain it or because of the complaints the neighbours have been making. It used to be that the housing commission bought areas of land and put all the housing commission properties in one location, but they soon worked out that that sort of environment breeds anti-social behaviour so now they spread the houses throughout all the suburbs. Doesn't matter where you live there will be a housing commission property nearby and its kind of a lucky dip as to what sort of people end up living next to you. The house on the corner turned out to be a nightmare for me. They are not good people.

These are the scum who broke into my yard, bashed one of my dogs and take great delight in throwing their trash in other peoples yards. Their kids have been hanging out in gangs and bashing up any poor child who walks down the street on their own and the parents sit in the driveway and laugh at it. Went past one morning on a school day and all their kids were in the front yard sitting around smoking - the oldest one is still in primary school!!! They stay up all night blaring music, screaming at each other and breaking things. And now they are gone!!

I really really want to feel excited but there is a part of me that is stressed about what the next lot could be like. I'm pretty sure the house on my right is housing commission also but I never hear a word out of them. Occasionally they kick a soccer ball at my poorly constructed fence and a paling falls off (the dodgy work of the previous owner. Must get around to fixing that one day), but that's nothing a hammer and longer nails can't fix.

The house on the corner has been the source of all my stress and fear since I moved in. Fingers crossed it turns out to be someone like the lady next door.
