72.5kg

72.5kg - Yee ha Grandma! Another week another half a kilo. Woo hoo!

I don't think that normal people would understand why I am so excited about half a kilo, anyone who has had glandular fever would have a pretty good idea. I can't believe it's taken me two years to get me weight back down, and I'm still not even there yet. I've got 4.5kg to go till I reach my "good" goal, 7.5kg to go till I reach my "dream" goal. I'm not even entirely sure if it's possible for me to hit 65kg. Even when I was a size 10 (US size 4) and you could see my ribs in places, I was never below 67kg. Oh well, I guess that's why it's called a dream weight. I have to say I really hate weight loss blogs, but after struggling for two years to lose the weight I gained when I was sick, it's a really big part of my life at the moment.

In other great news my heart seems to really be responding to my new training program. I don't know if it's the reduction in weight (losing 4.5kg can have a bigger effect on the heart than you would think!) or the new training program. Yesterday I went for a run and whilst not powering along I was still moving at an ok speed and managed to keep my heart rate under 170 for the first 15minutes and under 180bpm for nearly the entire 40mins! That is huge in my world. Up till a few weeks ago I could be barely moving (yeah, ok - waddling. I admit it.) and still be hitting 180bpm. It's nice to go for a run and actually enjoy it because you don't spend the entire time stressing that you're going to have a heart attack!

So it's exciting news for me today. I can't even remember the last time I saw 72kg on the scales! The best bit is I've been doing weight training, so at least I know it's not from muscle atrophy. Now the really hard bit will be avoiding the whole self-sabotage thing and staying motivated through these next couple of weeks. It's only 5 weeks till my goal day to hit 70kg. That has me on track for half a kilo a week. It is definitely doable, but if it takes a bit longer I'm actually ok with it because it will mean I'm more likely to keep it off.

Ok, ok - no more weight loss blogs till next weigh-in. I promise!

Oh, and Body Balance was a no-go this morning. I turned up at the gym at 5:30am (yes that's right, 5:30 in the freaking morning!) and they'd changed the locks and forgotten to tell me!!! The participants seemed to take it ok, but I know they were a little disappointed that they got up so early, made all that effort and then missed their workout. Not happy Jan! I was secretly ok with it though (Shhh! Don't tell anyone!) I was feeling off my game this morning and really tired (Todd had the flu all weekend, fingers crossed I'm not getting it) so skipping the class was actually ok with me. Wrong attitude, right?

Til next time...
